BELMONT — The Belmont Zoning Board of Appeals denied a special permit for expanded front-yard parking at 18-20 Winslow Road and approved setback relief for home additions at 3 Frederick Street and 30 Jackson Road. Board liaison Ari Gertian said the Winslow Road applicant never responded to outreach and told members the town had already cited the property for a parking violation. "Without any additional information, personally, I'm not inclined to allow this special permit," Williams said; the board voted 5-0 to deny it.
At 3 Frederick Street, homeowners Xuezhe Han and his wife Yandy won approval for a 796-square-foot second-floor addition despite a 5.7-foot side setback, well under the bylaw's 10-foot minimum, telling the board "relocating within Belmont is financially impossible." At 30 Jackson Road, attorney Keith Miller secured approval for a one-story, four-foot kitchen bump-out with a 9.7-foot setback. The board also continued an administrative appeal over automobile repair signage at 23 White Street to November 2 and approved minutes from three earlier meetings pending name corrections.
