Love Dogs Return to Payson Park for Festival's 35th Anniversary Season

BELMONT — July 16, 2025 — The Love Dogs blues band returned to Payson Park for their 10th appearance at Belmont's free outdoor Music Festival, now in its 35th season. The Wednesday evening concert featured material from the band's new album "Get Off My Lawn," written in part by Glenn Shamroom, alongside older catalog songs. Two horn players performed through injuries: alto and tenor saxophonist Myanna appeared in a medical boot after tearing her Achilles tendon two and a half weeks prior, and tenor and baritone saxophonist Rob Lee sat in solidarity. Festival organizer Tommy Olsen addressed the crowd during a break, declaring the Payson Park music "even better than New Orleans," noting sponsors Bruce Flett and Alex Corbett, and promoting a youth-run Popsicle stand that now accepts Venmo. Olsen also announced the Ralph and Sherry Jones-sponsored children's concert series continues on Thursday mornings, with the full festival running through at least September 3.
