Payson Park Music Festival Renames Children's Concerts to Honor Sherry Harris Jones

BELMONT — July 30, 2025 — Belmont's Payson Park Music Festival dedicates its 35th anniversary season to the late Sherry Harris Jones and renames its children's concerts in her honor. At the July 30 outdoor concert in Payson Park, festival organizers announced the children's programming will henceforth be known as the Sherry Harris Jones Children's Concerts, recognizing Jones — who died in November 2024 — for her decades of Belmont civic engagement, including leadership of the Belmont Garden Club, youth soccer coaching, PTO service, and a career as a music-minded educator. Her husband Ralph Jones, a former Belmont Select Board member, joined children and grandchildren on stage for the tribute. The evening's sponsor was listed as Belmont residents collectively, a choice organizers described as fitting given the family's longstanding support of the children's concerts. The Cape Cod-based Twisted Jukebox band, in its third consecutive year at the festival, performed two sets spanning Adele, Dolly Parton, Amy Winehouse, and the Grateful Dead. One final 2025 season concert featuring Wayne Potash was scheduled for July 31.
