Belmont Select Board chair warns another property tax override is likely by 2028.

• School Committee sets fall goals on start times, communication. Committee Chairperson Meg Moriarty said 50 to 60 students, mostly middle and high schoolers, lack bus seats amid a $2,000 per-student cost. The district signed three-year contracts with all four unions adding daily instructional time, and Belmont High ranked second in Massachusetts.Belmont News
• Select Board names Andrew Topio interim fire chief. The Select Board unanimously appointed Andrew Topio after a firefighter-packed ceremony and sold $6.94 million in bonds at 2.7481 percent.
