BELMONT --

TOWN -- At the Sept. 28 Select Board meeting, rink staff outlined the public skating schedule for the start of the fall and winter season. Public skate will run Friday nights from 7 to 9 p.m., with additional weekend public skate hours on Saturdays and Sundays, rink attendee Eric Harrington told the board. Some Saturday ice time in the back half of October will be taken up by rentals, he said. Staff hope to add an early weekday public skate from 6 to 8 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays once a new part-time staffer is in place; current staffing does not yet allow for that session.

Separately, the board reviewed bids for an advertising contract at the Belmont Sports Complex. The town received about eight expressions of interest and four formal bids, but none covering Zamboni advertising. Town Administrator Patrice Garvin said the town plans to reissue the request for proposals to reach a wider pool of advertisers, including posting notice on monitors inside the rink.

COMMUNITY -- The rink will continue offering senior skate sessions Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Harrington said. It will also continue stick-and-puck sessions for members of Belmont Women's Hockey and the broader hockey community.
