Moderator Committee Applicant Interviews · Meeting of August 12, 2026
Belmont's town moderator interviewed six committee applicants ahead of August appointments. Town Moderator Adam Dash questioned candidates for the Comprehensive Capital Budget Committee, Permanent Building Advisory Committee, Bylaw Review Committee and Warrant Committee at the August 12 session, part of a multi-night process that wraps up with appointments by August 31. Current capital committee member Aaron Picklingus flagged an estimated $7 million to $9 million in "semi-immediate needs" at Burbank School.
Warrant Committee applicant James Knight said "the biggest fiscal challenge for Belmont is pretty clear" since roughly 80 percent of town revenue comes from property taxes capped at 2.5 percent annual growth. No votes were taken; Dash said he will accept public comment on candidates through August 26 at moderator@belmont-ma.gov.
