Moderator Committee Applicant Interviews · Meeting of August 10, 2026

Belmont's town moderator interviewed five candidates for the Warrant Committee and Bylaw Review Committee Monday, with appointments due by August 31. Moderator Adam Dash questioned Hilton Madivu-Matson, Emily Wong, Alexis Demersian, Susan Samuelson and Frank Grimaldi one-on-one, after a sixth applicant, Tim Fallon, postponed to August 17 citing a scheduling conflict. Candidates cited backgrounds in banking, insurance, law and academia; attorney Alexis Demersian warned the town is "crunching our own people" absent a commercial tax base, while retired BU Questrom professor Susan Samuelson said lawyers are trained to ask "what could go wrong here." Dash said he will take no action on appointments until after August 26 to let residents email comments to moderator@belmont-ma.gov, with six more candidates set for August 12 and seven more for August 17.
