Jared Lawson Discusses New Album Just Let It on Belmont Public-Access Jazz Program

BELMONT — May 14, 2026 — Soul singer Jared Lawson discusses his album Just Let It on Belmont community access TV. Lawson appeared on Talk About Jazz with Doug Hall on May 14, speaking about an album that grew substantially when his management team suggested adding featured collaborators, including Alan Stone and Eric Roberson, after he considered the project finished. The title track draws on a Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson aesthetic, while I Got Your Back moves through jazz, R&B, soul, gospel, and reggae — with all apparent choral backing provided by Lawson's own multitracked voice. Lawson traced his sound to discovering Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life at age 13, calling Wonder the artist who most successfully merged "jazz harmony and sophistication with a super soulful, funky type of sound." He is performing at City Winery in New York City on June 8 and at the North Sea Jazz Festival in July.
