BELMONT — April 9, 2026 — Belmont Select Board signs 38-article Annual Town Meeting warrant, votes July leadership rotation. The three-member board voted 3-0 at its April 9 morning meeting to sign the warrant for Annual Town Meeting beginning May 4, following a full article-by-article walkthrough led by Town Administrator Patrice Garvin. Highlights include a proposed eminent domain taking of a privately owned sewer line along Concord Avenue, a $125,000 paramedic training pilot funded from free cash, $1.3 million earmarked for the Chenery Middle School roof through the MSBA rapid repair program, and five Community Preservation Committee projects totaling roughly $3 million — the largest being $2.1 million to redevelop Sherman Gardens. Garvin warned that a proposed increase in the retired-employee tax exemption from $13,000 to $15,000 would add approximately $523,000 to the fiscal year 2027 budget not currently accounted for. The board also voted unanimously to designate Taylor Yates as chair, Carol Berberian as vice chair, and Matt Taylor as member effective July 1, 2026.
