BELMONT — Warrant Committee endorsed paramedic training program and community preservation projects for Town Meeting. The Committee voted to recommend 12 warrant articles, including a $125,000 pilot paramedic training program to improve recruitment and retention. The Committee noted that adequate paramedics are essential to maintaining Advanced Life Support services, which generate significant revenue.
The Committee also backed multiple Community Preservation Act items: Sherman Gardens redevelopment, two phases of the Belmont Community Path (with Phase II design funds unlocking approximately $1 million in federal earmark funding), and Beaver Brook invasive species management. The Beaver Brook project passed 13-3, with Sue Croy, Conor McEachern, and Hilton Madevu-Matson opposed.
