BELMONT — The Warrant Committee recommended favorable action on five June Annual Town Meeting articles this week. The Committee backed a $1.3 million transfer to the Capital Stabilization Fund for the Chenery roof replacement, FY2027 capital expenditures, and union contract settlements from 18-month negotiations with the Teachers Union. The Committee deferred decisions on the Community Path Phase I acquisitions and a private sewer system acquisition pending final cost estimates.
School Committee Finance Chair Amy Zuccarello reported the district faces an approximately $480,000 projected FY2026 deficit while maintaining its $1.5 million Circuit Breaker carryover. The town's third-quarter financial position remained stable, with certified free cash of approximately $7.2 million.
