Shade Tree Committee reviews tree planting progress, honors departing member.

Shade Tree Committee · Meeting of May 18, 2026

BELMONT — Shade Tree Committee reports eighty of one hundred planned trees now planted as of May 18, with black tupelo replacements being sourced. Chair Eva Hoffman thanked committee member Lucia Gates for more than twenty years of service. The committee is advancing a draft municipal tree bylaw toward Select Board presentation on July 13, 2026; Town Administrator Patrice Garvin asked the committee to estimate potential revenue from the bylaw and gather comparable data from neighboring towns.

Committee member Alex Danahy will research tree removals from the Belmont Hill School project to inform the revenue analysis.
