BELMONT — Shade Tree Committee sets April 11th memorial for copper beech tree. Chair Eva Hoffman announced that Molly Aalyson and Vicki Amalfitano will lead the brief ceremony, which may include poetry and remarks from the Board of Selectmen. Tree Warden Will McPhee reported spring 2026 planting preparations are underway with five preferred species selected.
A four-member subcommittee drafting a municipal tree by-law does not expect a document ready for spring Town Meeting; the measure will require review by multiple town boards and legal offices before submission to fall Town Meeting.
