BELMONT — Select Board approves donations, liquor policy, new assistant administrator. Town Administrator Patrice Garvin announced the promotion of Matt Haskell to Assistant Town Administrator and reported the Chief Financial Officer position will be posted by early February with a hiring goal of month's end. The Board unanimously accepted three donations totaling over $87,900: $55,111 for the new library building (bringing private fundraising to nearly $5.7 million), $16,800 from the Gerber Family Trust for the Council on Aging, and approved a one-day liquor license for the Belmont High School PAC Patrons' January 30 fundraiser.
Board members also unanimously adopted revised Alcoholic Beverages Policies, Rules, and Regulations designed to streamline code, eliminate duplicative language, and reduce restrictions viewed as overly prescriptive compared to neighboring municipalities while maintaining public safety safeguards. Garvin delayed release of the FY27 preliminary budget pending Group Insurance Commission health insurance rates anticipated around February 26.
