Recreation Commission approves field fee increases effective July 1.
Recreation Commission · Meeting of March 2, 2026
BELMONT — The Belmont Recreation Commission unanimously approved field fee increases effective July 1 for fiscal year 2027 to fund $345,000 in annual maintenance costs across all town fields. Belmont Youth Sports fees double from $10 to $20 per player per season; resident single-use rates increase from $25 to $35 per hour and non-resident rates from $35 to $50 per hour. A new $5-per-hour permit for tennis and pickleball courts replaces the removed lighting fee.
The commission operates on a revolving fund model in which revenue collected in one fiscal year funds maintenance in the next, and estimated that Grove Street fields alone require four hours of daily bookings at $56 per hour to meet maintenance expenses.
