New Belmont Library draws 5,100 visitors in packed opening weekend
Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of January 22, 2026
BELMONT — The new Belmont Public Library welcomed nearly 5,100 visitors during opening weekend, far exceeding board expectations. Saturday attracted 3,200 patrons and Sunday 2,000 visitors, with strong interest continuing through the week (1,600 on Tuesday, 1,300 on Wednesday, 900 on Thursday). The Board of Library Trustees unanimously approved a Room Rental Policy establishing rates for community use during non-public hours, while noting that staffing constraints may limit larger events.
A $54,000 donation received during opening weekend will be applied to project costs, with final borrowing numbers expected in Q2 2026.
