Belmont Human Rights Commission discussed Martin Luther King breakfast redesign. The commission welcomed new members Zhibek and Jen and discussed plans for the annual event featuring an immigration focus and interactive round-table format instead of keynote speeches. Members agreed to shift from a hot-food dinner to a continental breakfast format and use the high school as the venue, prioritizing community building over fundraising with a separate donation station.
The commission also coordinated with the police department on back-to-school outreach to educate parents about hate crimes and reporting resources.
