Belmont's Historic District Commission approved conditional demolition at 291 Brighton Street. Chair Carl Solander and Vice Chair Henry Ogilby moved the conditional approval of partial demolition of the Thaddeus Frost House, voted 5-0 with member John Beaty abstaining. The approval permits removal of a rear 19th-century addition (about 40 percent of interior square footage) contingent on future HDC approval of replacement plans and structural stabilization of the main front facade before demolition.
Beaty abstained, expressing concern about precedent for single-building historic districts. The commission separately approved a copper downspout installation at the Homer Building.
