BELMONT — Energy Committee approves December minutes and receives updates on solar expansion and utility matters. The committee heard that Belmont Light will increase residential rates by 6 percent in 2026 due to transmission cost increases, while planning to expand its time-of-use pilot program beginning in March 2026; currently 300 households participate. Co-Chairs Brian Kopperl and Roger Wrubel reported meeting with Belmont Light officials on expansion of the program.
An early February meeting is scheduled to discuss construction of a solar array at Wellington School. The Library Building Committee reported its project finished on time and on budget with six EV chargers and a 100 kilowatt AC solar installation planned.
