BELMONT — The Belmont Economic Development Advisory Committee advanced funding options for an Economic Development Manager position, citing its representation of roughly 0.1 percent of the town's $170 million budget. Committee members and town staff discussed permitting fees, restaurant meals tax, and hotel/motel tax revenue as potential funding mechanisms, with Co-Chair Marie Warner building an advocacy coalition for Warrant Committee support. Chris Ryan reported the Collins Center Office of Planning and Building Efficiency and Improvement Analysis has been approved and funded, with stakeholder interviews underway and a staff survey launching mid-week; Phase 1 includes the building department's OpenGov module going live in August.
The committee delayed its Hill's Crossing zoning presentation to allow time for updated outreach materials and Town Meeting member surveys.
