BELMONT — The Belmont Conservation Commission approved its January 20 meeting minutes and welcomed Will McPhee as the new Natural Resource Manager, a role combining Tree Warden duties with oversight of town conservation areas and open spaces. Life Scout Luca Hu presented an Eagle Scout project to create a footpath at Rock Meadow preserve leading to "The Great Rock," a local historical landmark, plus a historical placard. McPhee and staff member Mary Trudeau will conduct a property walk-through to determine permitting requirements.
The commission voted to seek Town Administrator clarification on Rock Meadow's funding source and sunset dates, and agreed to contact the Engineering Department about a land surveying contractor for a conservation restriction with the Trustees of Reservation.
