BELMONT — The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee discussed concerns about consultant draft quality and deferred a decision on whether to retain VHB or solicit competing bids. Director of Planning and Building Chris Ryan reported that VHB, which initially believed the Open Space and Recreation Plan could be completed within existing scope, has now requested additional time and funding; the current contract concludes in August 2026. Committee members agreed the scope cannot be delivered within the timeline and generally agreed it would be helpful to evaluate competing consultant proposals.
Member Checkoway emphasized producing a high-quality plan even if the schedule shifts. The committee approved April 29 minutes unanimously and will present at the June 1 Annual Town Meeting.
