Belmont CPC hears Age-Friendly survey showing quarter of residents over 60. The Community Preservation Committee received an update on the Belmont Council on Aging Needs Assessment Survey, the first comprehensive survey of seniors in 10 years, with a 30 percent response rate. The survey found 25 percent of Belmont residents are over age 60; one quarter of seniors over 65 live alone with incomes under $50,000; and one in five respondents reported difficulty paying expenses in the past 12 months.
The Age-Friendly Action Commission identified priorities in housing, outdoor spaces, communications, and walkability, with Chair Aaron Pikcilingis indicating the CPC will explore how to support these goals.
