Comprehensive Capital Budget Committee · Meeting of October 16, 2026

BELMONT — The Comprehensive Capital Budget Committee removed the Chenery School roof project from the fall Town Meeting warrant. The project, approved by the Massachusetts School Building Authority in November 2025, faced significant budget increases due to ADA improvements and solar-readiness requirements. Committee members discussed postponing their MSBA meeting to late February or April 2027 and exploring alternative funding sources.

Outside-MSBA funding would require costly new schematic design work, as the current architect and project manager were hired under MSBA. The committee also reviewed a Stantec stormwater utility feasibility study and discussed potential fee structures for a separate fund.
