BELMONT — Capital Budget Committee advances FY27 planning as Chenery roof looms large. Chair Chris Doyle circulated capital ranking charts for final committee review as the incomplete FY27 budget heads toward a March summit. Town Accountant Donna Tuccinardi reported $120,000 in turn-backs plus $120,000 in bid reserves; the committee deemed the combined cushion appropriate given that the Chenery roof project, estimated at $4.2 million and slated for November Town Meeting presentation, poses the biggest fiscal risk.
The Fire Department's request to lock in pricing on a $1.8 million truck purchase for FY 2029 prompted the committee to commit to a broader study of fleet management, with members Bitner, Link, and Becker assigned to explore optimal vehicle replacement schedules.
