Belmont Capital Budget Committee defers school asbestos and flooring projects to fiscal 2028. Chair Christine Doyle and members reviewed information technology funding requests and Fire Department vehicle electrification, which Chief Destefano has said is infeasible due to lack of charging infrastructure at fire stations. Non-voting member Donna Tuccinardi urged development of clearer guidance distinguishing capital from operating expenses for submitting departments.
The committee approved prior minutes 7-0 and discussed setting aside funding reserves for anticipated future requests including Harris field, lighting, track work, and deferred school projects.
