Belmont Sets Hydrant Flushing Start Date For Monday

BELMONT — The town will begin its annual hydrant flushing program Monday, and Belmont Public Schools announced a September visit from best-selling author Rosalind Wiseman, headlining a relatively quiet 24-hour stretch of town news.

The Department of Public Works will begin its annual hydrant flushing schedule on Monday, July 13, targeting "Orange & Red Top" hydrants from 7 p.m. to midnight, according to a News Flash posted Friday morning. Residents in affected areas may notice temporary discoloration in tap water during and after the flushing window.

Separately, the town has no yard waste pickup this week, per an alert posted on the town's homepage, with a full updated schedule available online. Residents are also reminded that in-person early voting at Belmont Town Hall begins August 22, with a schedule already posted to the town website.

SCHOOLS

Belmont Public Schools announced this week that best-selling author Rosalind Wiseman will visit the district on September 16, per a News Flash posted Thursday. Wiseman, known for her writing on adolescent social dynamics, is being welcomed as part of the district's ongoing programming, though further details on the format of the visit were not included in the announcement.

The district's homepage also notes that registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open for families across Belmont's schools.
