Belmont Contributory Retirement Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026

Belmont Contributory Retirement Board backed 2026 actuarial valuation showing strong progress toward full funding. The system's unfunded liabilities dropped to $41.7 million from $53.6 million in 2024, with the funding ratio improving from 76.11 percent to 82.3 percent, according to Segal Consultants' analysis. The board voted unanimously to accept the valuation, which indicates the system will be fully funded by 2031.

Segal recommended maintaining the current 7 percent investment return assumption while increasing administrative expense assumptions from $375,000 to $420,000 annually. In routine business, the board approved new member enrollments and the retirement of Fire Chief David DeStefano effective September 7.
