Belmont Municipal Light Board · Meeting of January 13, 2026
Belmont Municipal Light Board approves 5.3 percent rate increase and doubles conservation charge. The board voted 4-0 to approve the adjustment, effective March 1, 2026, driven by transmission costs that have risen 106 percent over the past decade and 50 percent since 2023. Energy Resource Manager Kevin Bleau said conservation program costs have also nearly doubled in recent years.
For residential customers using 550 kilowatt-hours monthly, the Rate A bill will increase by $8.88 and Rate LI by $6.06.
