Belmont cemeteries get cameras, pedestrian gates as security tightens

Belmont Cemetery Commissioners approve security upgrades for both cemeteries. The board authorized camera installation, motion-activated lights, and gate restrictions at Belmont Cemetery, including locking the Fairview Avenue vehicle gate to address recent vandalism and theft. Chair Ellen O'Brien Cushman and Commissioners William Chemelli and Alexander Corbett, III reviewed SimpliCity Cemetery, a new GIS database launched approximately one month ago, requesting prioritization of interment-name search capabilities for cemetery visitors.
Administrative support was temporarily restructured to 15 hours per week through retired DPW employee Judi Carmody.
