BELMONT — Age Friendly Action Plan Committee discusses sidewalk mapping and mission clarification. The town plans to hire a Geographic Information Systems coordinator to map sidewalk conditions over the next year, with the committee invited to prioritize which areas to address beyond existing ADA requirements. Ahmet Caus reported that four new crosswalks will be added along Concord Avenue at the post office, library, Louise Road, and Underwood/Hittinger Street.
The committee also advanced plans for a walkability pilot corridor stretching from Beech Street Center through Common Street and Concord Avenue to the High School, and identified the need for a point person to coordinate with parent-teacher organizations on a student-led walking audit.
